This unforgettable comedy benefit brings together three incredible comedians, fun interactive games, a silent auction, and a surprise performance by the talented students of Edmonton Islamic Academy (EIA). Hosted by the charismatic Nahreman Issa, the night promises a vibrant, theater-style experience where you can enjoy hilarious stand-up routines, community spirit, and a chance to give back.
All proceeds from the event will support EIA’s New School Project, helping build a dedicated campus for the Academy’s elementary students.
Meet Our Host and Comedians:
Amer Zahr, Headliner:
Amer Zahr is a Palestinian-American comedian, writer, and professor who uses humor to bridge cultural divides and address important topics with an unforgettable twist. Drawing on his experiences as the child of Palestinian refugees, Amer delivers relatable, insightful comedy that resonates with audiences everywhere. He has headlined historic stages such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center and produced groundbreaking comedy tours and festivals. With Amer closing the night, you’re in for a show full of laughter, thought-provoking insights, and incredible energy.
Hassan Phills, Comedian:
Hassan Phills, a stand-up comedian from Toronto, is rising fast in both the comedy and acting worlds. Known for his charisma and unique storytelling, he's gaining recognition in Canada and abroad. With comedy based upon the deep roots in his community, Hassan consistently delivers a captivating show to audiences on stage and the screen.
Ahmed Ahmed, Comedian: Ahmed Ahmed is a rising star in the Canadian comedy scene. Originally hailing from Yemen, he has made his bones in the Edmonton comedy scene. Through being one of the most lovable comedians in the country he has quickly risen the ranks and gotten the opportunity to tour the country from coast to coast, making audiences laugh with his disarming charm and mixture of off the cuff jokes and sharply written material.
Nahreman Issa, Host:
Nahreman Issa is a seasoned journalist and well-loved personality known for her warmth, humor, and quick wit. With over 16 years in the industry, Nahreman is currently a news anchor and reporter with CTV News Edmonton. As the evening’s host, Nahreman brings her incredible energy to the stage, making sure every moment of the event is lively, engaging, and fun. With her background in storytelling and her genuine passion for community & being an EIA alumni herself, Nahreman will guide us through the night, ensuring you’re entertained and connected.
